“Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” - Anton Chekhov
Here I provide an introduction to my Life-Choice Memoir Assignment and links to the relevant blog posts that served as part of my writing process.
My previous experiences with writing narratives in academic communities has been unstable. Initially, I have much difficulty thinking of a good story to tell. Also, I find hardship starting out my paper as many students do so. However, I am capable of developing the story smoothly with little to no difficulties and finishing off the paper. As a result, I feel very accomplished at the end of the paper as I have expressed my emotion through writing, for instance in my Composing an Emotional Scene, Composing an Emotional Scene With Dialogue and Symbolism, A Wizard-of-Oz Journey, and my Mid-Term Reflection blog post.
In this narrative project I present a story about a decision I took in my past that significantly impacted my future and will continue to do so. The story tells about a time in my past where I had to make decisions based on my predictions, feelings, and thoughts at the moment towards my choice of attending college at Delaware County Community College. The situation caught me by surprise as I was astonished by how fast my time during High School went by so quick. It is a great one to learn from and move on, as I intend on transferring schools after completing my credits requirement and applying for colleges. Writing this narrative project brings back thoughts of why I made the choices I did and pushes me to work harder and achieve good grades.
Below is the first draft of my memoir (Attending College).
