"The first draft is just you telling yourself the story" - Terry Pratchett
Here I am providing my research project and the research project assignment sheet.
My previous experience with research projects is very limited. I have done a few of them in high school. However, they were all in MLA format which I disliked. This is the first research project I do with the option to use a different genre, Op-Ed. I personally do enjoy writing a research project especially when I am the one choosing the research topic. Doing research on a topic I am interested in is much more entertaining than a topic I am not interested in. However, this topic is a topic I am interested in and want to be able to do as much research as I can about it.
My research question for this project came from my professor, but I picked it because I was interested in it. The questions asks "How does social media animate toxic behaviors in teenage boys?" I had interest in this question and picked it because I was able to relate to it. I for the most part grew up with social media almost my entire life and I can relate to teenage boys using social media. In fact, I can relate to my research project with some of the films we watched in class and on our own like, The Mask You Live In, Miss Representation, and Plato's Cave.
In the research project I was able to link my research with what we learned in class. I showed that by linking my paper with the some of the blog posts I have written like, “Research Project [Miss Representation]", which I answer a few questions in, covering the impact of the film on my being, doing, and knowing. “Research Project [The Mask You Live In]”, which I also answer questions in, regarding the impact of the film on my being, doing, and knowing. “Research Project” which I spoke about the films we watched in the classroom and on our own. "Research Project [Reflecting on Research Project]", which I reflected upon during my research project and wrote about the struggles I was overcoming. Last but not least, "Research Project [Reflecting on First Draft]", which I reflected upon my first draft of my research project. In the research paper, I was able to persuade the reader on how social media animates toxic behaviors in teenage boys and compare it to the film “The Mask You Live In”
Below is the first draft of my research Project.
Draft #1 - "Social Media & Teenage Boys"
Draft #2 - "Social Media & Teenage Boys"
